In the sought after Surrey suburb of Esher, Hinchley House was a comprehensive transformation. We carried out a single storey extension, major structural alterations and a full refurbishment across both floors that reimagined how the home is used. Working closely with aThink Architects and the structural engineer, we engineered the new open plan kitchen and dining space around fully concealed steels, leaving a clean, uninterrupted ceiling with no sign of the structure holding it up. The steeply sloping site brought its own demands – with no side access to the property and a tight deadline to get the family back in before their rental period ended, careful sequencing was everything. To make the most of the garden, we built a large composite deck that brings the home level with its outdoor space. Inside, standout details include internal steel doors, a Victorian pattern tiled hallway and a hidden utility room walked through from the kitchen. For a family of four, it’s the home they’d always dreamed of.
