OUR story
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO. . . .
At The Queensland Group, building homes isn’t just our job, it’s what we genuinely love to do. We’re a small, organised and deeply dedicated team that takes pride in doing things properly, with care and craft at every stage.
The company was founded by two friends who met while working for the same residential building firm: one as a site manager, the other as a project manager. From day one, our strengths complemented each other: one obsessed with detail and delivery on–site, the other with planning, programming and keeping projects running smoothly. Together, we were part of building some truly beautiful bespoke homes across Bromley and Kent – homes we were proud to hand over.
But as time went on, the work changed. The focus shifted from craftsmanship to speed. Quality gave way to quantity. We found ourselves being told to “just lash it up”, and after a year of delivering buildings that didn’t reflect who we were or how we wanted to work, we realised we’d lost the spark.
That’s when we made the decision to start The Queensland Group…
We created this company for one reason: to bring back the pride and professionalism in residential building. To work closely with clients who care about doing things properly. To build homes that feel considered: homes that are elegant in their design, and elegant in their execution. And to do it with a team that stays small enough to care, and sharp enough to deliver.

Undertaking our pricing in house means we don’t have to rely on external estimators, and can produce detailed and transparent quotes that allow our clients to make key decisions early on. This gives us and our clients full confidence in the numbers.
30 YEARS COMBINED EXPERIENCE
Between us, we bring over 30 years of combined
experience in residential construction, which feeds
into the way we run our projects today. From
managing complex builds to solving on–site
challenges, we’ve been through it all, and that
experience shows in how we plan, communicate, and
deliver. It means we know what to look out for before
problems arise, how to keep teams moving efficiently,
and how to bring the best out of every contractor and
supplier we work with. For our clients, it’s the
reassurance that their project is in the hands of
people who’ve done it many times before – and who
know how to get it right.
STRUCTURAL BACKGROUND
Our deep understanding of the structural side of
building (sometimes known as the ugly part), is a
major asset, particularly thanks to Malcolm’s
background and experience in this area. His
knowledge of structural elements means we’re able
to spot potential issues early, collaborate intelligently
with engineers and ensure that key details are
executed with precision. It also allows us to build with
confidence and efficiency. For our clients, it’s
reassurance that this significant element of the
project is in good hands.
There’s something deeply fulfilling about building a home the right way and that feeling drives everything we do. For us, its not about ‘just getting it done – it’s about creating something that feels welcoming and superior. We get excited about good architecture, thoughtful detailing, and bringing a space to life exactly as it was imagined. That love for the craft is what keeps us pushing for excellence, even when no one’s watching. It’s why we obsess over the finish, why we communicate so closely with clients, and why we’d never hand over a home we wouldn’t live in ourselves. Building elegant homes is a big responsibility, and we feel privileged to be able to do so.
